New Year, New Books Day 4 (Part 1): Tracy E. Banghart + Shattered Veil

Day 4: Shattered Veil

Welcome to Day 4 of New Year, New Books! So every blogger knows the big name publishing companies (Random House, MacMillan, HarperCollins, etc.) but there are also many self-published authors out there who don't get nearly as much attention as other books do. Today I'm featuring a super sweet self-published author, who has a stunning book that deserves to be spotlighted all the way.

1) Tracy E. Banghart
-author of Shattered Veil (February 28th, 2014)

Tracy's here today to play what I like to call EXTREMES. Basically, I gave her a "crazy" situation and she told me what she would do in that scenario! Before you read her hilarious answers, check out her book, Shattered Veil!

Title: Shattered Veil (The Diatous Wars #1)
Author: Tracy E. Banghart
Shelves: Young Adult, Science Fiction
Publication Date: February 28th, 2014
Publisher: Tracy E. Banghart

Summary from Goodreads: When everything that defines you is stripped away, who do you become?
Selection

War has come to Atalanta, infecting its quiet villages and lush woodlands, igniting whispered worries in its glittering capitol.

All across the dominion, young men are being Selected for Military and sent to the front lines…and eighteen-year-old Aris Haan’s childhood sweetheart is one of them.

Secrets

Pyralis Nekkos, Atalanta’s leader, has kept the truth from his people, that their dominion will fall…and much sooner than anyone could guess.

Galena Vadim, his reluctant ally, wishes she could forget their shared past...until her future seems to depend on it.

Sacrifice

And for the boy she loves, Aris, a talented wingjet pilot, will give up everything - her home, her name, even her face...

...only to become the key to her dominion's survival.

Extremes with Tracy E. Banghart

1) What would you do if Hogwarts sent you an acceptance -but you couldn't attend because your horrible aunt and uncle won't let you? ;)

I would probably make a run for it, sneak out while they were sleeping or something. I’d find a way. Wizard school is just WAY too cool not to make an effort! ;-)

2) What would you do if Steven Spielberg called you and told you he wanted to make Shattered Veil into a movie?

First, I’d most likely hyperventilate or run around in circles until I fell down. Then, I’d probably celebrate with a HUGE cupcake. And maybe call everyone I ever knew to tell them.

3) What would you do if J.K. Rowling asked you for writing advice?

Um…laugh in her face? I’d be much more interested in HER advice for ME. Her worldbuilding is so incredible I can’t even stand it. But….maybe, if she insisted, I might recommend that she put all her character development to good use and write some spin-off stories with her minor characters (who wouldn’t want a novel starring Luna Lovegood, amiright??)

4) What would you do if all the books in the world were terribly written?

Cry. Try to write some better ones.

5) What would you do if you found out you could have one super power to have for the rest of your life?

It would depend on what it was. For example, if I had super-SMELL…I’d probably be pretty disappointed (my son is still in diapers and I have three smelly pets!). But if it was something like indestructibility or super speed or super strength, I would be STOKED. And would probably write a book about it. ;-)

  1. Love the Harry Potter related questions! And YES to a Luna centered story!

  2. I never even thought about a mini story about Luna, but now that I think about it... it does sound really interesting. I feel sort of selfish for it, though... since it seems like a way to keep the magic alive in Hogwarts (weh). But it would truly be interesting to see in her point of view.

  5. Oh, I've heard of this book! It looks like a cool read. I really like the questions! For me, my super power would probably have to be sight. I have horrendous eyesight . . .

  10. I wholeheartedly agree with her suggestion that JK Rowling should do some spinoffs. I really want to know what happened to the rest of the characters. And not just that cheesy King's Crossing ending.
